Own Your Leadership

Leadership development, coaching and facilitation for leaders, teams and organisations

Helping people lead, communicate and work with more clarity, confidence and sustainable impact.

Leadership is deeply human work.

It asks you to make decisions, hold conversations, support people, manage pressure, respond to change, build trust and still stay connected to the kind of leader you want to be.

That is not always easy.

You may be stepping into leadership for the first time. You may be managing a team and wondering how to handle the conversations that nobody quite prepares you for. You may be leading an organisation that has grown quickly and now needs clearer values, stronger communication and more consistent ways of working. Or you may simply know that the way you lead, communicate and work together needs to feel more intentional, more honest and more sustainable.

Own Your Leadership exists to support that work.

Practical leadership support for real working life

Leadership development should not feel like a set of abstract theories dropped into an already busy working life.

The real work happens in the ordinary, important moments that shape how people experience leadership every day. It happens when expectations need to be made clearer, feedback needs to be given, trust has been dented, values are being tested, a team feels stuck, or a leader is carrying more than anyone else can see.

Through 1-1 leadership coaching, facilitation, development days, leadership programmes and practical resources, I help people pause, think clearly and take action that fits the reality they are working in.

This is leadership development that pays attention to people, behaviour, communication and culture. It is reflective, practical and gently challenging. It helps leaders understand themselves, lead others with more intention, and create working environments where people can contribute, communicate and grow.

Choose the support that fits where you are now

1-1 support for leaders

1-1 leadership coaching and practical development support for people responsible for leading others.

This is for you if you are looking for individual leadership support, whether you are investing in your own development or your organisation is funding coaching for you. You may be new to leadership, preparing for a bigger role, navigating self-doubt, managing difficult team dynamics, or trying to lead in a way that feels more aligned with your values and strengths.

Leadership coaching can help you build confidence, strengthen your leadership style, improve communication, handle feedback, set boundaries, prepare for difficult conversations and develop the emotional intelligence needed to lead with more clarity and care.

Group support for leaders

Ongoing leadership support and practical development for managers and leaders who want somewhere useful to think, learn and grow alongside others.

This is for you if you care about leading well but do not always have someone you can turn to when a situation is playing on your mind. You may be new to leadership, managing a growing team, dealing with difficult conversations, questioning your decisions, or simply looking for regular support from people who understand the realities of being responsible for others.

Better Leaders Together gives you a trusted space to bring real leadership challenges, gain fresh perspective and learn from both expert guidance and the experience of other leaders. It can help you feel less isolated, approach situations with greater clarity, strengthen your confidence and become more thoughtful, steady and intentional in the way you lead.

Support for organisations

Leadership development, facilitation and strategic support for organisations that want stronger, more confident and more consistent leadership.

This is for organisations, businesses, schools and teams that want to develop leadership capability in a meaningful and practical way. Support can include leadership development programmes, team development days, facilitation, values and behaviours work, team alignment, leadership frameworks, communication support and targeted 1-1 coaching for leaders.

The aim is to help people lead and work with more clarity, confidence and purpose, while strengthening the culture, behaviours and relationships that support sustainable performance.

Leadership resources

Self-led leadership tools, free resources and practical materials to support your development.

Not everyone needs coaching or facilitation straight away. Sometimes you need a well-designed resource, a reflective prompt, a practical framework or a short piece of learning that helps you pause, think and take action.

My leadership resources are created to support self-leadership, confidence, values-led decision-making, communication, boundaries, emotional intelligence and sustainable leadership practice.

Not sure what support you need?

Take the quick quiz to find the leadership support that fits where you are right now.

You care about leading well, but leadership can feel heavier than people expect.

You may care deeply about doing a good job. You may want to support people properly, communicate fairly, make thoughtful decisions and create a positive impact through your leadership.

But the reality of leadership can feel more complicated than the books make it sound.

You might be second-guessing yourself, carrying too much responsibility, avoiding a conversation you know needs to have, or wondering whether your leadership style is strong enough. You may be trying to balance what your team needs, what your organisation expects and what you personally have capacity to hold.

For teams and organisations, the same pressure can show up in different ways. Communication starts to feel unclear. Values are talked about but not always lived. People work hard, but not always in the same direction. Decisions take longer than they need to. Helpful challenge gets avoided. Small frustrations become patterns.

None of this means people are failing. It means leadership and teamwork need attention.

Own Your Leadership gives leaders, teams and organisations the space, structure and support to look honestly at what is happening, understand what needs to change, and develop practical ways forward.

What can change through leadership development?

With the right support, leadership can feel clearer, steadier and more intentional.

Leaders can develop a leadership style that reflects their strengths and values, rather than trying to become someone they are not. They can learn how to communicate expectations more clearly, handle feedback and difficult conversations with more confidence, and build trust with the people they lead.

Teams can create clearer ways of working, stronger communication and a better understanding of the behaviours that help or hinder them. They can identify what is working well, what needs to shift, and how to work together with more alignment and shared responsibility.

Organisations can strengthen leadership capability, define values and behaviours in a way that people recognise, and create development experiences that support real behavioural change rather than one-off inspiration.

Good leadership development does not remove every challenge. It helps people meet those challenges with more clarity, honesty, skill and self-trust.

A practical, emotionally intelligent approach to leadership

My approach combines leadership coaching, facilitation, emotional intelligence and practical leadership development.

That means I do not treat leadership as a neat theory or a one-size-fits-all model. I work with the real conversations, decisions, pressures, relationships and behaviours that shape how leadership is experienced every day.

The work may involve coaching a leader to find more confidence in their role, facilitating a team conversation that helps people speak more honestly, supporting an organisation to define its values and behaviours, or creating a leadership development programme that gives people practical skills they can use immediately.

Whatever the format, the focus is always the same: helping people lead, communicate and work with more clarity, confidence, care and sustainable impact.

Meet Sharon Smith

I’m Sharon Smith, founder of Own Your Leadership.

My work brings together leadership coaching, facilitation, emotional intelligence, practical leadership development and years of experience supporting people in leadership roles. I work with leaders, managers, teams and organisations to help leadership feel more intentional, more practical and more sustainable.

I know that leadership is rarely as neat as the models suggest. Real leadership happens in conversations, decisions, relationships, pressure points, team dynamics and moments where your values are tested.

That is why my approach is supportive, practical and gently challenging. I help people understand what is happening beneath the surface, make sense of leadership patterns, and develop strategies that can be used in real working life.

Leadership development for sustainable impact without overwhelm.

OWN YOUR LEADERSHIP IN WHITE LETTERS ON ORANGE BACKGROUND

When you own your leadership, you create sustainable impact without overwhelm.

That does not mean doing everything perfectly. It means developing the self-awareness, clarity, skills and confidence to lead in a way that is effective, honest and aligned with the kind of impact you want to have.

It means noticing when your thinking gets clouded. It means understanding your values and using them as a moral compass when pressure, assumptions or urgency could otherwise take over. It means learning how to hold conversations with care and courage. It means creating the conditions where people can do good work, speak honestly and contribute fully.

Leadership development is not just about becoming more confident. It is about becoming more conscious, more capable and more consistent in how you lead and work with others.
